Silicon oxide powder CAS code 69012-64-2 is also known as silica fume, microsilica, or pyrogenic silica. It is a fine, white powder that is produced as a by-product of the production of silicon metal or ferrosilicon alloys. Silica fume is primarily composed of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO2), but it also contains small amounts of carbon and trace elements.
Silica fume is a highly reactive material that has a number of unique properties. It is very small, with particle sizes ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 micrometers. This makes it very effective for filling in voids and pores in concrete and other materials. Silica fume is also very strong and durable, and it can improve the compressive strength, flexural strength, and abrasion resistance of concrete.
Microsilica fume (scientific name "silica fume," Micro-silica or Silica Fume), in the smelting of ferrosilicon and industrial silicon, silicon through the flue gas emitted by steam oxidation, the specially designed filter collected the amorphous powder like silica (SiO 2).Microsilica fume average 0.1-0.15 μ m in diameter, the size of several cement average 1.0%. It is sometimes confused with fumed silica (also known as pyrogenic silica, CAS number 112945-52-5). However, the production process, particle characteristics and fields of application of fumed silica are all different from those of silica fume.
