Poly(carbonate-ether) diols (PCE) are series product produced from the copolymerization of propylene oxide and carbon dioxide.  They are amorphous,   linear, aliphatic poly (carbonate-ether) diols.  These polyols are transparent liquid at room temperature.  Carbon dioxide accounts for ~30% of the product mass.  This product can replace up to 30% of fossil raw materials with CO2.  This novel polyol delivers unique performance to polyurethanes.  In adhesive applications, it provides improved strength including improved adhesion to a   variety of substrates.  In urethane foams, it substantially increases tensile and tear strength performance.  Polyol PCE can also be used as a strength  enhancer in coating, rigid foam, and elastomer applications.

Strength
Due to the existence of carbonate linkages, the overall strength of polyurethane synthesized by PCE is high,    especially with a very high Young's modulus.

Abrasion  resistance
Due to the structural characteristics of the products,
the abrasion resistance of polyurethane synthesized by
PCE is slightly smaller than that of polyurethane
synthesized by PCD, but better than that of polyure- thane synthesized by other polyester polyols.

Hydrolysis resistance
PCE does not contain ester bonds of alkyd polyconden-  sation, so the hydrolysis resistance of the polyurethane synthesized by PCE is similar to that of the polyure-
thane synthesized by PCD, which is much better than
that of the polyurethane synthesized by ordinary polyester polyol.
Thermal   properties The initial thermal decomposition temperature of PCE is above 200°C, with good thermal and hydrolysis
resistance.
