Aluminium Fluoride comprises a white bulk material of crystal structure. 95 per cent of global Aluminium fluoride production are used to manufacture aluminium and glass, optical products and leather products.
We manufacture Aluminium fluoride by using the waste product extracted during phosphoric a cid production process - silica hexafluorosilicic a cid - and neutralizing it with Aluminium hydroxide.
The product is a white needle crystal powder. SP.GR.2.882-3.13g/cm3,sublimation temp.1272.It's slightly soluble in water and greatly soluble in HF Liquid.The chemical property for the high density aluminium fluoride is very steady, but that contains certain crystal water will be decomposed into Al2O3 at high temprature with HF being released.
Application:
1. Mainly used as a modifier and flux in the aluminum electrolysis process. As a regulator, aluminum fluoride can increase the conductivity of the electrolyte, and can be supplemented with aluminum fluoride according to the analysis result to adjust the composition of the electrolyte to maintain a prescribed electrolyte molecular ratio; as a flux, aluminum fluoride can lower the melting point of alumina. It is beneficial to the electrolysis of alumina, controlling the heat balance of the electrolysis process and reducing the energy consumption of the electrolysis process.
2. Used as a catalyst in the synthesis of organic compounds and organofluorine compounds, as a component of ceramics and enamel fluxes and glazes, as a modifier for refractive index of lenses and prisms, for the manufacture of fluorinated glass with low "light loss" in infrared spectrum. .
3. Can be used as an inhibitor in alcohol production.
1. Additive for aluminum metal production. Aluminium fluoride (AlF3) is widely used for the production of aluminium by electrolysis as an additive . Used in combination with cryolite, AlF3 lowers the melting point to below 1000°C to form a molten salt that dissolves the aluminum oxide. This melt solution is then electrolyzed to produce aluminum metal.
2. Optical materials and photonics applications. Aluminium fluoride is used in combination with zircon ium fluoride as an ingredient for the production of fluoroaluminate glasses. Like magnesium fluoride, aluminium fluoride is also used as a low-index optical thin film, particularly when far UV transparency is required. Its deposition by physical vapor deposition (PVD), particularly by evaporation, is preferred using an aluminum fluoride target.
